Background

My training and experience in psychology have included extensive academic education, clinical hospital-based training, research and teaching, and clinical and consulting practice both in the NHS and privately. I hold a PhD in Psychology from King’s College London, and am a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), as well as a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am currently appointed Professor of Psychology and Mental Health at Kingston University London, where I am the Course Director of the MSc in Clinical Applications of Psychology.

Clinical Training

Over the years I have attended courses and training in different therapeutic approaches, from psychoanalysis, systemic therapy, person-centred therapy, to more recent approaches such as Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Approaches. I completed training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) at the University College London, and am an Accredited CBT Practitioner with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Additionally, I trained with the Metacognitive Institute and am a Registered Metacognitive Therapy practitioner.

Research and Scholarship

To date, I have conducted extensive research in the field of clinical and health psychology, specifically in the areas of perinatal mental health, psychological models of self-esteem and procrastination, and addictive behaviours. This work has been published in some of the leading international psychology journals. I am on the editorial board of an academic journal (Addictive Behaviors Reports) and regularly attend and present at conferences in the field of psychology and psychotherapy.
